Interest Rate Trends
Having the most current and historical interest rate information at your fingertips is vital to any municipality as you are planning its financial future. As a service to you, we provide the interest rate trends in graph form which are updated weekly. Commonly used indexes in public finance are:
- Bond Buyer Index (BBI): An estimate of yield compiled by the Bond Buyer using an index of general obligation bonds maturing in 20 years, with a rating equivalent to Moody's Aa and Standard and Poor's AA-minus.
- Revenue Bond Index (RBI): An estimate of the yield compiled by the Bond Buyer using an index of revenue bonds maturing in 30 years, with a rating equivalent to Moody's A1 and Standard and Poor's A-plus.
- 10 Year Treasury Note: Yields on Treasury securities at "constant maturity" are interpolated by the U.S. Treasury from the daily yield curve. This curve, which relates the yield on a security to its time to maturity, is based on the closing market bid yields on actively traded Treasury securities in the over-the-counter market as of market close on Thursday afternoon.
