Standard & Poor's Assigns A Rating to City of Dawson
AA+ Enhanced Program Rating to
Series 2012A GO Water and Sewer Bonds
ROSEVILLE, MN May 1, 2012 - Standard & Poor's (S&P) Ratings Services has assigned its 'A' long-term rating with a stable outlook to Dawson, MN Series 2012A General Obligation (GO) Water and Sewer Revenue Bonds and the Series 2012B GO Improvement Bonds. S&P also assigned the 'AA+' enhanced program rating to the Series 2012A GO Water and Sewer Bonds, due to the City's participation in the Minnesota County Credit Enhancement Program.

The City's very strong reserves as a percentage of expenditures, stable local economy, centered on agriculture, food processing, and health, and adequate income levels care sectors are reflected in the rating.

"With these bonds, the City will be able to
begin the multi-phase street and utility project which it has been planning for over the past several years," states Rebecca Kurtz, the Ehlers Financial Advisor assisting Dawson. "Dave Bovee did an excellent job of communicating the plan to Council, who in turn passed the resolution to move forward. Now they can begin a multi-phase street and utility improvement project which the City has been planning for over the past few years."

Despite a small budget, Dawson has maintained strong reserves relative to the City's budget, due in part to expenditures coming in lower than budgeted the past few years.
