This site provides information for taxpayers of Independent School District 97 – Moose Lak regarding how the district's proposed referendum would affect their property taxes. The site was prepared by the school district's municipal advisors, Ehlers, in cooperation with the school district. If you have questions about the information on this site, contact Ehlers at the numbers listed below.
The district will be holding a special election on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 seeking voter approval of two ballot questions:
Question 1 would authorize the district to issue up to $3,935,000 for the construction of an ECFE playground; the construction of an event parking lot with related lighting and drainage; the completion of the track/football field area and the baseball/softball field area and facilities, including a storage facility with restroom, locker room, and concession stand space; the acquisition and installation of security cameras and a portable stage that meets ADA requirements; and the development of school forest trails that will be used for classroom and athletic purposes.
Question 2 is contingent on question 1 and would authorize the district to issue up to $2,700,000 for the construction of an activities parking lot; an additional softball field and an additional storage facility with restroom and concession stand space; and the acquisition and installation of stadium lighting at the football and baseball/softball field areas.
For additional information on how the funds would be used, click on the "Return to School District Website" button above.
Approval of the ballot questions would cause a property tax increase beginning with taxes payable in 2020, and the debt service tax levies would be in place for 18 years.
